For Staffing Firms
Every candidate I-9, DL, and SSN sits in a recruiter inbox that nobody is watching.
Staffing firms hold some of the richest PII per seat of any SMB: resumes, I-9s, driver licenses, pay rates, client contracts. One hijacked recruiter account is both a PII breach and a client-contract breach. Many firms your size have no cloud account monitoring.

Threats we catch
Three attacks aimed at staffing firms.
36 detection engines check your Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, AWS and Cloudflare accounts every five minutes. Critical threats surface instantly. Normal activity gets filed away.
Candidate PII exfiltration
A compromised recruiter inbox exposes every active candidate's SSN, DOB, driver license, address, and pay history. Every state requires notification when that kind of data is exposed, each on its own timeline.
Client-contract data breach
Most staffing MSAs now include data-security clauses with breach-notification obligations to the client. A single hijacked inbox can trigger dozens of client notifications simultaneously — and cancellations.
I-9 and E-Verify fraud
Attackers harvest driver license and SSN scans from ATS uploads, then use them in downstream I-9 fraud schemes. DHS treats this as a compliance failure on your end even when you were the victim.
Example alert for a made-up business.
Your blind spot
What a typical IT setup does not watch.
- Your recruiters are often independent contractors or 1099 — they use personal devices and personal sign-in locations, which makes anomaly detection even more critical.
- When a client contract has a breach-notice clause, the clock is set by the contract, and it is usually short.
- Temp-to-perm transitions happen constantly and account cleanup slips — dormant recruiter accounts are an attacker's favorite target.
- Most staffing ATSes (Bullhorn, JobDiva, Crelate) integrate via OAuth apps and API tokens nobody audits.
The screen is an example for a made-up business, not real customer data.
Compliance alignment
The rules and frameworks we line up to.
SentinelSMB provides the continuous-monitoring, access-control, and incident-response controls these frameworks require. Pro subscribers get the audit-ready evidence package.
-
State breach notification
Notify by state of residence
Candidates live in every state. Every state requires notification when PII is accessed without authorization. SentinelSMB produces the exact detection timestamps and affected-account audit trail these laws require.
-
Client MSA data clauses
Contractual breach notification
Staffing MSAs now routinely include 72-hour cyber-event notification windows to the client. Missing that window is a contract breach regardless of whether regulators fine you. SentinelSMB gives you the detection clock that starts the window on time.
-
I-9 / IRCA
Form I-9 retention and protection
IRCA requires secure retention of Form I-9 and supporting documents for 3 years after hire or 1 year after termination. Secure retention now includes monitoring access to the systems where the documents live.
-
Client security questionnaires
Vendor due diligence
Larger clients send security questionnaires before they sign or renew an MSA. Documented continuous monitoring and a 365-day audit trail give you real answers instead of promises.
How does this fit with our ATS (Bullhorn, JobDiva, Crelate)?
SentinelSMB monitors the Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace account your ATS authenticates through. Anything that signs in using your email domain is covered because the underlying cloud account is monitored — including ATS OAuth grants and API tokens.
What about 1099 recruiters on personal devices?
This is exactly what anomaly detection is for. SentinelSMB baselines each recruiter's normal sign-in pattern (locations, devices, times) and flags the outliers. A recruiter in Denver suddenly signing in from Moscow at 3 AM is caught even though the recruiter uses a personal laptop.
Does this cover our client-contract MSA clauses?
Many client contracts ask you to keep reasonable security controls and to notify quickly after a cyber event. A monitoring record helps with the first and gives you timestamps for the second. Cole can walk through the specific MSA language on a call.
We place into healthcare — are we covered for HIPAA obligations?
Not yet. SentinelSMB does not currently process PHI or sign subprocessor BAAs, so healthcare data monitoring is on the roadmap rather than live. If your placements touch PHI, we can still monitor your general corporate email and non-PHI operations.
